弘誓大愿hóng shì dà yuàna great vow and a profound promise; an important vow
❍ 我已发了～，不取真经，永堕沉沦地狱。(《西游记》167) I have already made a great vow and a profound promise that if I do not acquire the true scriptures,I shall fall into eternal perdition in Hell.
❍ 我弟子曾在化生寺对佛说下～，不由我不尽此心。(《西游记》169) This disciple has already made an important vow before Buddha in the Temple of Transformation,and he has no alternative but to fulfill it with his whole heart. |
