与（與）yǔ

Ⅰ  ❶ （给） give; offer; grant: ～ 人方便 give help to others; make things easy for others; 丰取刻 ～ take a lot and give away little; 信件已交 ～ 本人。 The letter has been given to person concerned.
❷ (交往； 友好) get along with; be on good terms with: ～ 国 friendly country; allied state; 此人易 ～。 He is easy to get along with.; He is not difficult to approach.
❸ (赞许； 赞助) help; support: 批评应该是 ～ 人为善的批评。 Criticism should be aimed at helping those criticized.
❹ [书] （等待） wait: 岁不我 ～ time waits for no man Ⅱ  (引进动作的对象， 跟): ～ 困难作斗争 strive to overcome difficulties; ～ 人合作 cooperate with others; ～ 人民为敌 be hostile to the people; set oneself against the people; 历史上英国曾多次 ～ 美国结盟。 Britain was allied with the United States many times in history. 他母亲不让他 ～ 一群坏孩子交往。 His mother doesn't allow him to get in with the wrong crowd of boys. 他拿我的作业 ～ 她的相比较。 He compared my paper with hers. 我们经常 ～ 他打交道。 We often deal with him.
