△As. 3.2.364(342):“so removed a dwelling.”这么一个偏远的住处。
△Tw.5.1.93 (89): “And grew a twenty years re-moved thing / while one would wink:”i.e.became ina moment as strange as someone who had not seen mefor twenty years.一霎工夫他就与我疏远了二十年。
△Ham.1.4.60: “Look with what courteous action /It waves
you to a more removed ground，”i.e.a remoter spot,a more retired place.看，他多么客气地招呼你到一个较远的地方去。
2. distant in relationship by a certain degree,remotelyconcerned （亲戚）隔房的，远隔的，关系疏远的。
△As.5.4.71 (68):“Upon a lie seven times removed，”i.e.upona lie which passed through six stages till it reached theseventh viz. the “lie direct” (=“you are a liar”),which was the quickest way to provoke a duel. 根据一句隔着七层的谎言。(按：当时上流社会习惯，如以lie direct即“公然撒谎”指责人，即可引起决斗。此处“隔着七层的谎言”指吵架距离引起决斗的程度还很遥远，看下文说明可知。)
