1. anticipate,prevent 抢先，阻止。
△Ham.3.3. 48:“And what’s in prayer but this twofold force,/ To beforestalled ere we come to fall,/Or pardoned beingdown?”i.e.to be prevented from falling into tempta-tion,or forgiven if we have fallen (into temptation)祷告不过有这两重作用，或者预先防止我们堕落，或者失足后得到赦宥，此外还有什么意义？
